Urban Beach Club (Lisbon) - Portugal

Now that I’m living in Lisbon what can I say? The nightlife is cheaper than other cities in western Europe. You can have dinner wherever for less than 10€ and afterwards having a few drinks before going to party for less than 2€ each for beers and 4€ cocktails. Distances are quite short, you can go by walk to almost everywhere but be careful, if you are a girl and you want to wear hills, portuguese oldtown’s paving will be your worst enemy. So, time to party. There are too many options but right now the most popular clubs in the city are Urban and Lux. Let’s talk about Urban.

The location of the club, just in front of the river (Tajo), is perfect and the views are pretty awesome. The club has many VIP areas with beautiful views to the river, and in the middle of these VIP areas there is the dancefloor, in my opinion large enough. The decoration style is like most of all current popular clubs, modern and minimalist.

The admissions policy tries to be strict, especially at the weekend, but I can say that it is not. You can find really stylish people but also guys wearing t-shirts. The average of ages depends on the day, on school nights people is younger (college parties) and at the weekend you can see people in their twenties but also in their thirties.

The price to enter is 12€ what includes 2 drinks. They also give you a card where every time that you drink, the price is charged to that card and then you will pay for what you have drank at the exit. Drinks are 6€ so I think it’s quite cheap. Having a bottle in the VIP area is only 60€, the inconvenient is that you don’t feel like “exclusive” by having the bottle and your own private space with your friends, They don’t give you individual soft drinks in glass bottles, they just give you a plastic big size bottle of soft drink what in my opinion it’s really stingy. And what about plastic glasses? I’ve seen it’s very common in Lisbon but i’m more likely real glasses. Maybe it’s because is cheaper or perhaps just because in Portugal is allowed drinking on the street.

About the people that use to go to Urban, most of them are home people but you also can see somebody from abroad (like me). But don’t worry, usually the target is well-educated people so they use to speak English fluently and even some Spanish. The music it’s not their best, DJ plays today's commercial themes but they also plays old songs which aren’t themes to dance to.

Summing up the, the location and the local style are really good and prices and people pretty much too, however the music and service details are far from being as perfect as they could. Anyway, if your are living in Lisbon or just visiting the city you should go to Urban, at least the views worth seeing!!
